As a Painting Contractor we get asked this question a lot. There is a big misconception that spraying is a bad thing, and gets associated with many negative connotations. The reality is, with the correct sprayer, tip size and products it will leave a higher level of finish than using a brush and roller. Some applications with a brush are extremely difficult, such as painting louvered doors. Leaving an almost guaranteed mess on the opposite side.

We painted this entire interior using Sherwin Williams Duration Matte on the walls, promar ceiling paint and emerald gloss on the trim.
This is a new basement we just finished. We used Sherwin Williams Duration Flat paint SW 6112 Biscuit on the walls, and Sherwin Williams Cashmere on the trim and doors.
Painting the tray ceilings a dark or bold color creates a dramatic contrast and brings attention to the ceiling and the light fixtures. Sanding between coats gives a nice, smooth even finish and is very important on dark ceilings.
